That feeling you get when you are close to a post rank so you try and make conversation and reply to everything? no? just me?

What are post ranks?

Quote from: Wisdom on December 01, 2019, 05:21:49 PMIt has been definitively decided that the most pressing game of the past to remaster is Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Freddi Fish and Luther's Maze Madness. Failure on the part of the games industry to heed our advice would be foolish and a complete disregard for popular opinion.
Finally, the Harry Potter remake I've been waiting for! That was a good poll, I really enjoyed it. Just the thought of roaming those halls again brings a tear to my eye. What do you think an updated Freddi Fish game would look like?

Granted, it is now approximately 40 degrees there year-round.

I wish it was easier to design things in Minecraft.

Why would you kill someone who's lived for 1800 years and has so much to teach everyone else  :NotLikeCat:

Also I should probably let you know now, since it's been going on for so long, that the Sylh in my nation name has an H :P

Ha'Elvehnan was a culture in Refugia long before the others came (I have a detailed timeline going back to ~200BC). Their language was suppressed by the Imperial occupation, but the Empire made one very simple, but very important, mistake.

Two things I have taken away from this experience:

1. It's hard to find a proper balance of how much of another language to use in a post without putting concepts that are too complicated to not translate, and
2. I spent approximately 75% of the time I was writing that post in my notes on the language, lol.

For the record, the actual words used and their translations are:

Ha'hren - (Old/Wise one, mentor, leader)
Savhalla, lethal'lin - Hello, friend (male)
Din'telsila'sathan - Do not be worried.
Ma seranna - My gratitude.

Lethal'l(in/an/en) literally means "blood kin" or "treasured friend", but my belief is that Silvehn has seen enough of the Alanori over the nearly 2000 years she's been alive to consider every one of the elves family.

Din'telsila'sathan is me playing around a bit with Elvehn grammar, I'm afraid lol. Telsila is the word for "to bother, to worry", and sathan is the word for "please". The prefix to make a thought negative is "din", and the suffix to conjugate "telsila" to second-person singular is -s, which is the same letter the following word starts with. I sort of added a bit of outside language flair to the sentence by taking out the -s ending to telsilas and instead combining it with the s at the start of sathan.

"Ha'hren Silvehn?"

It was a warm day in Alanor, mitigated by the shade of the great trees and cool winds from over the ocean. The Radhmael's office was open to the breeze through multiple exits into the various gardens of Arlathan's palace district. Bookcases lined a corner, situated behind a modest writing desk. Various carpets covered the wooden floor. A fireplace sit empty, waiting for a day far colder than this one.

The Radhmael herself sat at the desk, reading a policy proposal from one of her aides. She placed a marker in the document and looked up. "Savhalla, lethal'lin. Din'telsila'sathan."

The courier was a teenage boy, Ghilen. He came from a line of the old nobility in old Alanor, before even she had lived, but she'd been closest to one of his ancestors who had attended the academy in Bel'annar'is alongside her. They had met during an open study group on life augmentations. Ghilen looked like him. He looked like a lot of those who came before.

He puffed out his chest a bit -clearly chafing about being asked to not be nervous- and strode in. <A message was delivered for you,> he said, holding out a sealed envelope.

She took it with a slight smile and thanked him. "Ma seranna."

The message was a simple one, inviting her to leave the ancient forests of her homeland and travel across not only the land she was on, but a sea beyond that, to the island nation of Subadent. The new king was to be crowned. She'd met the Prince before, at some regional meeting of the minds or another. She liked him, liked his nation. Subadent seemed to regard nature as highly as Alanor, but in its own way. They did not live beside the trees for a long and peaceful eternity, but then again neither did her people. Her thoughts turned darker. Not anymore.

"Ha'hren?" came Ghilan's inquiring tone. She looked up and gave him a smile. <Not to worry,> she replied, <the burden of memory is sometimes heavy.

<Please summon our minister of travel, and the ambassador from Refuge Isle,> she requested. <I will need some further instruction on the usage of travel runes.>

I have created a peat bog and an arboretum between the Stamp Society and my old mountain base. If you have any need of fuel (for peat-fired engines) or wood, saplings, and apples, please feel free to use the machines. The engines run on peat, but are efficient enough that you get much more out of them than you spend.

Furthermore, I have left a "Thankful Dinner" item with Rea, at the Stamp Society for Luca, and at Cherry Vale Manor for Maddie. I hope that everyone enjoys this little slice of celebration for a holiday that probably doesn't deserve it lol.

The thankful dinner is made of tofu turkey, toast, onions, sweet potato pie (vegan egg replacer!), cranberry jelly, and mashed potatoes. It will give you a buff of Strength and Resistance for 3 minutes.
