This is probably a little weird, but since I run the map dispatch and have been taking care of filtering and responding to applications, I could just take on the map entirely. Since it'd be more of a full-time job, we could just elevate the delegate position to regional Councillor and put cartography as a secondary duty besides voting (since the WAA programme has already been offloaded from delegate responsibilities). Elevating the delegacy to a full council position would also mean I wouldn't be running for other offices :derp:

I know it doesn't make a lot of lore sense for the delegate to be purely in charge of the map, but it's a decent workload and, since we've occasionally had councillors either disappear immediately upon their election or otherwise delay duties, I worry about the map going potentially months without update because people don't want to deal with how impressively frustrating Azaar's can be.

That being said, if people want to work on it and volunteer and try out being a Councillor of Cartography, I'm happy to give it a chance. Nothing really bad could happen from it. Worst case scenario in that case, a few people will try it out and then I'll run for it a lot

On the topic of the map space running low, I'm not sure what to do about that. Right now, we've got a load of people who have CTE'd since the last update:

It could be self-sustaining but I'm not sure yet.

Shortly before 5:00 local time this morning, Djorner vacated both the Calamity Refuge discord server and moved his nation out of Refugia. Djorner had been inactive for 14 days at this point, but was still a Member State in Refugia. As he didn't have an exemption to his member state status, the relevant guidance dictating his Member State status is RRS 3a, which states: "A Resident will lose its status as a Member State if it elects to depart the Region, its status is self-requested to be revoked, or the Resident is ejected."

On top of leaving the region for Free Nations Region, Djorner has had a rough half-term as Councillor of Culture, in which he was mostly absent. During his time in office, he has headed no events, created no content, and only copy-pasted the previous Councillor's official dispatch, leaving some coding out so that it was more or less botched. The only seemingly official moments during his time in office were a strangely in-character statement on the invasion of Ukraine and a couple trivia questions, the answers to which were factually incorrect and needed to be checked.

Calling for Recall

Djorner, elected Councillor of Culture on February 14th, 2022, left the region on the morning of April 7, 2022 for Free Nations Region and has remained there. Before this, he had not logged in in 14 days, and most of his activity in both the Calamity Refuge discord server and the region took place on four days, separated by significant spans of inactivity. A seeming lack of interest and no cultural input have defined his term to this point.

I am hereby invoking RRS 9 to call for a recall vote due to vacating the region and neglecting the responsibilities of the job.

List of Grievances:

  • Updated in Free Nations Region at April 7th minor, losing Member State status.
  • Long spans of inactivity, resulting in five active days since his election on February 14.
  • Has not been active in the CalRef discord server since February 23.
  • Has not fulfilled any responsibilities of the Councillor of Culture since his election.

To push a recall election, I am calling for another Member State to second this proposal. Also feel free to give any feedback in this thread regarding a way to make this better if necessary.

Roleplay / The First Step

"Welcome everyone to The Imperial Academy of Magic! I am Hexcrafter Alphorius, and I am so pleased to see such such diverse members of the Empire within this year's incoming class. For the next several days, we will be meeting as a group, going over the basics of magic and magical theory."

The entire incoming class of mages were gathered on one of the smaller islands for this introductory class. The island had a building on it, but the students were sat outdoors at seats with desks, situated around the professor in a circle. They were arranged so that the smallest individuals were in the front, and the largest were in the back. The professor, an elderly dwarf with a white beard and flint eyes, stood on a raised platform so that everyone could see him, and rotated to see everyone as he spoke. His voice was magically amplified so that everyone in the vicinity- a hefty incoming class of 60 students- could see him.

Alphorius continued, "Almost all races of the Empire are able to grasp and utilise magic, but it comes to all of us at different speeds. Even within a race, some people will grasp the concepts and mechanics of magical ability faster than others. If you find that weaving is difficult, please do not be frustrated. You were all chosen to come to the Academy, because the ability was sensed within you. All of our professors have seen students who took much longer to grasp the most basic concepts of magic than it will take any of you." He chuckled to himself. "But do not take that to mean you can just slack off. Magic is an energetic, dangerous thing constantly flowing around us. Proper control requires good faith effort. But as long as you apply yourselves and attempt to meet the challenge, you will succeed.

"Observe this," the Hexcrafter said, and held up a hand. Starlight glittered momentarily over his palm, before suddenly expanding and surrounding the entire group. The sky around the students darkened to reveal a slowly rotating series of stars, some distant, some near. Lines traced between them to reveal different shapes: the various constellations that dictated the schools of magic. "You are all from different races, different cultures, vastly different life experiences. Thousands of years ago, before the Empire connected us to one another, our people considered each other monsters. But what we have always shared, all of us, is curiosity. The pioneers of magic saw answers in the heavens. Before the different energies surrounding us were connected, our ancestors traced lines between the stars. They were taught, guided, to know how to do this. We still consider the night sky a crucial guidance tool for our new students. By being on the floating islands, we are able to have an uninterrupted and incredibly clear view of the sky. Your assignment tonight will be to look at the sky and record the first three constellations you are able to see. The stars that choose you will be your guides during your time here."

He closed his hand and smiled at the various students in attendance. "Of course, not everything is so high-minded and philosophical as stargazing. We have more to discuss after a break, but first I want you to leave your belongings at your seats and walk around a bit. Talk amongst yourselves if that is comfortable, otherwise there is breakfast and snacks in the building, as well as washrooms and drinks. I will call you back here in a half hour."

Once upon a star supernova, twenty six legendary cards descended from our tall card tower. Hooray!
Our newfound love Testlandia, wore splendid magenta fursuit, specifically commissioned to contain BEES! It buzzed through rainbow, over walls yonder, and into the sky. At midnight, Gerald Ford erupted from his volcanic lair, overflowing with meritorious service. Both chambers reloaded their legislative shotguns while removing glistering shirts, heated by lava undershirts. Ford devoured the 535 imperial guards, while copper prices skyrocketed, and legislation stalled.

Meanwhile, the legendary crocodile, Crocodile Irwin, initiated CPR for the legislature of New Hartoria. Mercifully, HS wrote textwalls of nonsense which follows:

Chaos or minecraft is fun?
Mine is cake and Latté. I eat too much cake and drink too much Latté. And I sometimes feel even guilty about that, because I could be baking that cake myself, thus spend less money on it.
Sweets are such a difficult guilty pleasure to shake. I've gotten to a point where lattes are way too milky for me, but the cafe at my university served really great oat milk mochas. I'd get them with an extra shot of espresso to balance out the sweetness, but the espresso brand they use is so good.

I'd love to get more into baking, I remember baking with my mom when I was younger and it was a good time. I just don't have the equipment to do very much at the moment.

Refugia / Re: [Draft] Dissolution of the Interior

I'll second this. The information should be updated to include Michelland's stats as current Interior Councillor, however. They added ten polls, but the rest of the information is still accurate. There have been two welcome messages since the beginning of October despite a significant increase in population, and still zero regional telegrams or conversational facilitation from the office.
